Volunteer thursdays
Learn about permaculture with us! Volunteers are welcome to join us every thursday to work on our permaculture food forest. We start with a tour around the property and then focus on a different task each week. A meal from the garden will be provided.
We work for approx. 4 hours in the morning or the afternoon, depending on the season.
No special skills are needed. Please bring sun protection, robust shoes, clothes that can get dirty, a water bottle, garden gloves (if you have) and maybe a swimsuit.
Contact us by e-mail if you are interested to join us.
Volunteers with special skills
Occasionally we offer experiences for volunteers with a special skillset. Are you a carpenter? Do you love working on dry stone walls? Are you a trained gardener? We are looking for people, with a specific skill set, who work independently and know what they are doing! In return you can learn about permaculture and agroforestry, stay in one of our beautiful glamping tents and enjoy a stay in this unique place, close to the beach.
Accommodation:
Since we're only getting started, your accommodation will be a tent. It is very big and equipped with a real mattress and sheets, but still a tent. That's why we only take volunteers from april to october and no longer than for two weeks.
If you like, you can also come in your own camper van. We have (cold) water, a composting toilet, an outdoor shower and solar power and the climate is very nice here. There is a safe place to lock your stuff.
So if you are ready for a truly off-grid-experience near the beach, this is the right place for you!
I'll be providing one meal every workday and fill up the pantry for you to cook for yourself and have breakfast. Also you can pick your own eggs and veggies from the garden anytime.
Working hours:
Five days a week, five hours a day.
I won't be on the land all the time. So you'll have to be able to work autonomously.
What else...
We have a dog, cats, ducks, two pigs and chickens free roaming. If you have a dog, you can bring it along as long as it is nice to our farm animals. The property is not fenced.
Houserules:
- Leave no plastic trash behind
- Only use biodegradable soap
- Don't play with our dog (he is in training to be a herding dog)
- No open fires from easter till halloween
- Ask before you invite any visitors
- Kids are welcome as long as they are able and willing to help
- No loud music after 10pm
We don't have wifi.
Minimum stay: 5 days
Maximum stay: 2 weeks
Languages spoken:
English, German, Spanish and a bit of Italian and French.

Current projects for volunteers:

Build a wooden gate!
Our pigs are still escaping on a regular basis. We urgently need two wooden gates to make sure they won't run off. We like to keep it traditional, so we want them to be of the menorquin style.

Tree Pruning
Our old almond and carob trees need a new haircut! We have about 30 almond trees and 20 carob trees that need a trim this winter (october – january).

Dry Stone Wall Reparation
Our property is surrounded by beautiful old dry stone walls. They crumble in a couple of spots and we want to keep this heritage alive and restore them the old way: without cement or mortar!

Rainwater Catchment
We have an old cistern that currently isn't catching any rainwater. I have a plan, but didn't have the time to execute it so far...
